So a few of you have seen my recent forum about having trouble with getting norton off my computer. Well finally after 3 days, I have finally got things going good and the way I would like them to.

There was a trail version of Norton that came with my computer and then I put my own version of Norton on the computer as well. Everything worked fine until I decided to get ride of my version of Norton and install my other A.V.

I couldn't totally get Norton off my system. So took get the version off that I put on. I erased the hard. That is a good way to get the darn thing off if it's a route you want to take. I believe it is the only true way to totally get all of Norton off, as Norton just invades any computer down to it's soul.

So after doing that, I still had to get around the trial version that comes with the computer and that is installed when you put the operating system back on. So after installing the O.S. again I went back into the rescue and recovery program that is on the computer and found out that I could do a CUSTOM INSTALL now! Really are you kidding me! That's it! WOW! Who would of thought. You mean after all these forums that I have read and things to try this is all it took. Unbelievable. So I start the custom install and sure enough, I un select the Norton program box. HOT DAM! I click next on the custom install and start the whole insatallation process again and WAM BAM THANK YOU MAM! IT WORK! FINALLY!

Thanks to everyone who tried to help. Very much appreciated.

Few things to mention. First this works for any ThinkPad IBM computer. Second is CCleaner is a great and useful product. I just got things running as of 10:30p.m. yesterday. I worked today so I will download poker sites sometime by tomorrow and hope to see you all on the felt.

Going out for dinner and drinks with my girl tonight. Hope you all are doing well!

PEACE OUT FROM THE WINDY CITY.

P.S. GOOD RIDDANCE NORTON. YOU SPACE HOGGING, COMPUTER JAMMING, INFESTING EVERY SECTOR, PIECE OF CRAP.

ENOUGH SAID!

Norton is the worst anti virus ever - AVG for me.

Norton makes most of its money by getting packaged into Windows. It takes real time out of your life to remove it from new systems, which is ridiculous. But once you do, try AVG Antivirus. There's a free edition that works great, and a paid one with the bells and whistles. I used to have all sorts of virus problems until I tried AVG. It doesn't hog resources either.

A person generally doesn't need anti virus software if they aren't clicking on crazy links and downloading files often. I have heard good things about AVG like GrillDoggy mentioned. I would also recommend installing FireFox, it is really a lot faster than Internet Explorer and other web browsers. A lot of the stuff that bogs down computer is blocked by FireFox. Add that Lavasoft AdAware program and the CCCLeaner like Gob said and you're done.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who offered advice. That was the sole reason of making the post and it did help me to make my decision.

Just for an update here is what I went with.

First I went with Gobs choice of CCleaner. 4 stars. Works great and I use it regularly.

Second I went with my choice of AvenQuest FixItUtilites9. 4 stars. I love this thing. It has everything I want and need. It works great and has tons of options as well as user friendly.

Third and while I give this a 4 star rating as well it still has some bugs to work out. Google Chrome. On my laptop it is just faster and more user friendly to me than anything else.

I did get Norton off my computer and very happy with my finish product.

Thanks again you all have been very helpful...

Avast is always been my choice when it comes down to anti virus stuff. It really gets the job done.
For the problem FinalTable09 was having,i suggest getting the "your uninstaller" software it will erase it right out of your computer, hard drive anywhere it could be hiding. It works great and its free...;)
For cleaner try Uniblue '09.
