We all know what we are supposed to do pre-flop we want to pick strong starting hands and we want to be in a good position when we come into the pot easy enough right but now that we enter a pot and see a flop this is where we have to step it up and start putting the hand together. The flop is going to help our hand or not easy enough but we need to try to start putting the other players on a hand or better yet a range of hands. Most of the time you are thinking to yourself they have this hand or they have that hand but you need to take your thinking one step farther what don't they have and you put this stuff together with the texture of the flop and how the betting and raising goes. The reason you want change up your thinking to what they don't have is because your mind can play tricks on you if you are trying to prove yourself right when you say they got kings I just know it and you play the hand out and guess what you got trapped. By putting the hand together in the frame of mind what do they have and what do they not have you are making the logical side of your mind work the problem out and it is just much easier to get away from a hand if you take both things into account or easier to play if that is the way it works out. Don't let your mind trick you into thinking of a exact hand the best you can do is ranges till the board is full. Just some random thought hope this makes since and helps a little.

It might be somewhat pessimistic, but I like to go with the worst case scenario first and then work my way backwards and let me prove me otherwise, through the rest of the hand.
Instead of thinking I always have the best hand, I try to think of the better ones that could be out there and if I think I have the best hand at the time, I'm thinking how do I extract the most chips out of my opponent.
If I think I could have a mediocre hand, how can I make my opponent think I have a the best case scenario and worst case scenario for them and if they are capable of believing that I could have the hand that I will be representing.
Does my story add up? Will they fold when I'm weak, will they raise me when I'm strong? Stuff like that.
Thanks for the post Jim!

Yep makes perfect since that is where I was wanting this post to go get past level 1 thinking there are alot of different things to you need consider to put a hand together there is a lot more to it then just what you have and tons of way to play as you are putting the puzzle together.

It's a great post at deeper thinking. Feel free to open any threads like this, or you can PM me and I will write something.
We all have a lot of thoughts and sometimes it is just hard to get started with just one. This is not only directed to you, Jim, any member that has a topic they want to discuss or a question that they don't know how to ask should PM me. You could also PM a guy like Jim, he knows how to play well enough to open up a good thread and get some conversation going as well as teach us all. I learned a lot from everyone on here, since I have opened PokerGob I have improved my game through reading and posting and replying to posts just like this one!
Thanks Jim!
