Just wanted to run this idea by Gob and some members: We have been trying to get more members active on the site so I came up with an idea, How about having tournaments using points we accumulate on the site, therefore the more active the member the more points you accumulate, then in return members can use the points to enter tournaments, just and idea would appreciate any feedback on this idea, GL and hope to you on the felt....

It is a great idea. What would you like to see on this site? What topics are mentally stimulating? What excitement are you looking for in a poker forum? Should I put an "all in" button in place of the "post reply" button. :D

The only problem that I have with this idea is that it is very hard to give a password to members only without leaks. I want everyone to be rewarded for their efforts, I can add this point system, but the passwords would have to be kept secret by the members...I am not questioning anyone's integrity, but there may be some that come to the site with the intention to just gain points and distribute to sites where passwords are posted...this subject is a tough one.

I could run tournaments where there is an entry fee and add money bonuses to the prize pool. This would eliminate freerollers from playing. It's strange, I have found that there are swarms of people who look to play in freerolls without really contributing to the community. Remember PokerGob is a social network, the site is driven by the members...I plan to offer some other features, but I am not sure how to make the site more exciting wthout our community members help. I personally will try to add more content, so far I like the Poker News section, there is some good discussion in there.

Don't forget, every member has their own page where they can customize it and put information for people to read about. We also have a TV show on Monday nights where we discuss poker. For some reading about poker and learning is exciting. For others reading about poker strategy isn't exciting, but the goal of this site is to teach you how to win, that's exciting to me.

I have seen a few other sites doing this. It seems to work there

Well, as for the points suggestion, you wouldnt give a password to members they would have to use their points to enter the tournament... Set a certain amount of points to be able to enter the tournament then you would deduct the points from the members account, therefore in order to participate in a tournament a member would have to be more active on the site, make posts, write blogs and so forth to build their points, I dont know just a thought I threw out there, you can decide if you feel it will work or not

I think the idea of Peach46,
points accumulated can be a good solution to attract
more members to your site forum.
Why not try?

Hmmm, let's think about this? Last Login 2/17/08 a total of 2 Activity Points, no avatar, very little posts in the forum and no home page modification. A perfect candidate for a freeroll! This site is not about the freerolls, it's much more.

Sorry but I do not see the place which indicates my account.
Is it on the home page or elsewhere?
Thank!
