Have you ever been playing poker and watch the 6 4 you just folded make a full house on the flop? It happens all the time and this is one of the easiest ways to go on tilt for a new player it seems everyone of those junk hands you fold is hitting big on the flop so you give in and start playing junk only to see that it stops happening and all your chips gone. This is something you need to address early on anybody can look at a flop and know what they should have done but we don't have that option you need to make the right decision with the information you have and junk is junk plain and simple and even if it does hit big after a flop you have to know you done the right thing folding the hand. Don't let your emotions take over use your head the better hand you start with the better chance you have of winning.

This is true. I call it "Reverse Tilt" Because we (humans) are curious creatures and the human mind has a tendency to recognize things that it is looking for.
There is a lot of psychology in poker. Everyone, this includes even seasoned poker players, must learn to control their emotions. It is one of the many skills that can be learned to make you a better player.
Believe me you can train yourself to not care when a hand you fold makes a monster on the flop or by the river. That's just good poker!

Emotional control is absolutely necessary to succeed in poker. Tilting is bad. Tilting costs us money. Learning how to control your emotions is probably the most difficult task in poker to master. The main thing to remember when playing poker is… it is poker. It is a game of skill, but also a game of luck. Sometimes our opponents are going to go into a hand with the worst of it and come out of it with the best of it. If we understand that it is part of the game, then it is less likely to bother us.

Very good point you guys. And Gob you have taught me about this through our discussions. I have done this reverse tilt and it will get you. This is something that you don't hear to much about as a beginner and it can be catastrophic to your game.
Jim is exactly right and Gob you hit the nail on the head with this statement.... "Believe me you can train yourself to not care when a hand you fold makes a monster on the flop or by the river. That's just good poker!"
To any newbies reading this, please listen up, it could save some $$!

Just because you lost a hand to some bad beat joe who called your overbet on the turn with his non-nut flush draw who hit on the river is no excuse to donk off chips. You may not realize it but you’re on tilt right now son, you’re mad at ONE GUY who made a bad move. If you played that same hand with him 100 times, you’re going to win the majority of those hands.
The numbers don’t lie so just buck up and play solid poker. If you get into another hand with him, let him make the same mistake again! You’ll get paid off sooner or later, especially if it’s online poker. Just tag him using the appropriate right click (varies by site) and find him playing again later.
If you can avoid getting a hard on for bad beat joe after he hands you the bad beat of the century, you will not succomb to the tilting ways of most losing players. Grinder's are better than that, sometimes we just need to remind ourselves though.

I am just starting to see the light from the end of this tunnel in my poker games. I still find myself playing far to many hands ( instead of waiting for quality ones ) just b/c of what the hand could be instead of what it will most likely be. I do find myself quite often looking at my hand preflop and only seeing the best possible scenario. More times than not I am smacking myself after the flop brings me back to reality lol.
