Irish Open 2011

You’ve all heard of the WSOP, but have you heard of the Irish Open? The Irish Open will be played in April 2011 and is considered to be the second longest running event in the world right behind the World Series of Poker. The Irish Open was formed in 1981 and this will take place this year in the Burlington Hotel of Dublin. www.burlingtonhotel.ie

The Main Event, a €3,200 + €300 No Limit Hold’em event will take place on April 22 through April 25th with a full schedule to be formed later this year. This tournament will take place along side a buzzing Irish community with a super nightlife and loads of entertainment. The Irish love to play poker and being that the tournament is located in the center of Dublin it will be sure to be action packed.

Last year, 20-year old poker player James Mitchell claimed a €600,000 first-place prize in a tournament that had a total prize pool of €2,265,200. The Irish Open can be seen all over Europe on Sky Television and is considered one of the more coveted and popular events in Europe.

Qualifying events start October 31, 2010 with two Irish Open 2011 seats being guaranteed. A full list of satellites will be listed soon.
