Doyles Room Sharp Shooter KO
Posted On 03/26/2008 07:07:41

Recently, Doyles Room has started Sharp Shooters tourney, which is a .10 cent buy-in R/A KO.  I'm sure others have noticed and played by now, but i have found these to be as fun as the QuickDraws, but with significantly fewer players.  They are NLH, Omaha or Stud, which is great!!!  Dont see other tourny games too often.  The blinds move fast (every 3 minutes), and rebuys are limited to the first 15 minutes.  The tourney is usually over in 45 minutes.  There is not a quaranteed payout, so first is a bit over $6 (depending upon number of players and rebuys), but for less than an hour's play, that is fine.  I placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th so far.  Hope to see yall there, but stay out of my first place win!!  LOL.

Laying down AA preflop
Posted On 02/14/2008 14:05:12
I thought I would comment on the poker poll.  Lets say you get to the WSOP (direct buy-in or sat.) and your first hand is AA on the button.  How many other players would have to (foolishly) go all-in preflop to get you to lay that down?  My answer would be "one."  Sure, you might be an 80% favorite against one player, but are you truly willing to blow everything on one hand that you dont even has chips already committed to?  The value of your AA at this point of the tourney is zero.  Or pehaps you like fate deciding your future, instead of doubling up in a more controlled fashion later, when you outplay the foolish opponent.  Wisdom and prudent play allows the pros to outlast donks.  Sure, you can still be busted out by the "one outer" later in tourney, but give me that any time over my own foolish call to "protect and defend" my AA.  By the way, 3 or more opponents against AA means you will lose close to 40%.  Tell me again you will "NEVER" fold AA preflop, and I will play the violin at your tourney funeral.

Decluttering the Blog site
Posted On 02/14/2008 13:44:55
I am new here, but thought I might make a suggestion.  A majority of the blogs appear to be advertisements to certain poker rooms and their various promotions.  I dont look at blogs for that.  I want to see what other members are saying, and to get advice on how to play.  Is it possible to put all the advertisement in a forum section specially for that, and leave the blogging to the members?
